It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we all look forward to bringing in some holiday cheer to our lovely homes or businesses. The past year has been an absolute whirlwind dealing with the effects of the pandemic and we all can use a little joy, that can be fun as well as reducing stress.

1. Choose a theme to develop your color palette

Having a theme for your holiday decor is an easy tip to get started on decorating. Whether you are going the route of traditional, whimsical, modern or an opulent holiday experience, selecting a theme will ensure that your decoration will be impeccable. You can never go wrong with your traditional colors (red, green and gold) and if you want to play it safe or create decor that actually lives in the space of your home or business, it can reflect your personality. Together, your theme will create a memorable experience for yourself and holiday visitors, it also serves as a guide when purchasing holiday decor and making decisions.

2. The entryway says “Happy Holidays”

A nice greeting into your home/business is one of the best holiday design tips that will most definitely sets the tone for the occasion. Whether it is a gorgeous wreath on the door or take it up notch by trimming your door with a garland and lights. There’s an infinite number of design possibilities that can elevate your exterior holiday experience such as: Trimming the house, trees, bushes and walkway with lights, adding decor to the mailbox, adding wreaths to your windows, etc.

I personally love designing trees that have keepsake ornaments, it most definitely becomes a conversational piece and a reflective moment. When I travel, I make a point to grab an ornament to place on my jewel tone tree. Even though I don’t have children, seeing those keepsakes allows me to reflect on the enjoyable times I had, in the midst of celebrating the
