Açai Bowl Recipe
Açai bowls are essentially thick smoothies in a bowl with toppings. Açai is known for being a superfood because it’s packed with antioxidants. So you get a meal that is filled with nutrients and is delicious and refreshing. They typically are great for breakfast or as a midday snack. Once you have the sweet, smooth, and refreshing base, you can top it off with granola, berries, sliced bananas, coconut shavings, and more. We have a recipe to get you started, but as you make it your own, feel free to add or take away ingredients to your liking.
Ingredients
1 cup of frozen mixed berries (blueberries and strawberries)
1 frozen banana
3/4 cup of apple juice, almond, or soy milk (whichever you prefer)
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
2 packets of frozen açai puree (make sure you break the puree before blending)
Choose your toppings, and feel free to experiment and get creative: try bananas, fresh fruit such as strawberries, blackberries, granola, chia seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, peanut butter, etc.
Instructions
Toss the frozen banana, mixed berries, apple juice or your choice of milk, plain yogurt, and frozen acai puree into a blender. Blend on low until smooth and creamy. Remember to add additional liquid if and when needed.
Scoop the smoothie into bowls and top with your favorite ingredients.
