Açai bowls are essentially thick smoothies in a bowl with toppings. Açai is known for being a superfood because it’s packed with antioxidants. So you get a meal that is filled with nutrients and is delicious and refreshing. They typically are great for breakfast or as a midday snack. Once you have the sweet, smooth, and refreshing base, you can top it off with granola, berries, sliced bananas, coconut shavings, and more. We have a recipe to get you started, but as you make it your own, feel free to add or take away ingredients to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (blueberries and strawberries)

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 3/4 cup of apple juice, almond, or soy milk (whichever you prefer)

  • 1/2 cup of plain yogurt

  • 2 packets of frozen açai puree (make sure you break the puree before blending)

  • Choose your toppings, and feel free to experiment and get creative: try bananas, fresh fruit such as strawberries, blackberries, granola, chia seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, peanut butter, etc.

Instructions

  • Toss the frozen banana, mixed berries, apple juice or your choice of milk, plain yogurt, and frozen acai puree into a blender. Blend on low until smooth and creamy. Remember to add additional liquid if and when needed.

  • Scoop the smoothie into bowls and top with your favorite ingredients.

    Enjoy!
